Micromax is back with 3 new smartphones in India, one a budget phone with premium features
The new smartphone by Micromax will be available for under Rs. 10,000 price segment.
Micromax plans to launch three new smartphones in India soon, including a budget phone with “premium” features and a “modern look”. The Indian company is teasing the launch through its social media channels before any official announcement. This new development comes amid anti-China sentiment that has reached a new level due to clashes in the Galvan Valley. Micromax launched iOne Note as its last smartphone in the country in October, and it is listed online with a price tag of Rs. 8199.
There is a line of soft launches in the works, and all of these will start temporarily together next month, a person familiar with the company’s plans told Gadgets 360. The company plans to launch a total of three new phones, which will be available at all. Rupees. 10,000 value segment, the person said.
Micromax is teasing the launch on Twitter – questioning users about its withdrawal plans.
“We are working hard internally and soon we will do something big. Stay tuned! ”Micromax tweeted in response to one of the users preparing an alternative to the Chinese phone.
In a separate tweet, the company said it had a new development tool with premium features, “completely modern in appearance and budget-friendly.”
Micromax is using the hashtags #MadeByIndian and #MadeForIndian in its tweets to support the ongoing sentiment to boycott Chinese products. However, the company is not saying that it is manufacturing new models in India or outsourcing to the manufacturer in China.
It is important to highlight that Micromax has a record of selling rebranded Chinese phones in the past. In December 2014, co-founder Rahul Sharma founded a sub-brand called You Telework, which initially brought a pair of rebranded phones from the Shenzhen-based vendor Coolpad which later entered India to sell their models independently.
“Micromax can definitely try to make a comeback in these times,” said Navkendra Singh, Director, Devices and Ecosystems, India and South Asia, IDC. Only for Micromax but any new brand, which is trying to create a very complex and integrated environment in the smartphone market like India. “
Singh said the market is now heavily consolidated, with the top five brands accounting for over 75 percent of the market, which will only make it harder for Micromax.
Once a king in the market
Micromax was a major domestic player in the mobile phone market in India. The Gurugram-based company even became the tenth-largest smartphone company in the world in the third quarter of 2014. However, it lost ground after the expansion of Chinese companies, including Xiaomi, into India, coupled with some inventory issues, moving rapidly as a 4G rollout in India. Many more than expected.
In 2018, Micromax launched the Infinity N11 and Infinity N12 as its two new smartphone models. Only one model was contracted last year – with the launch of the Micromax I Note which went quietly for sale in the country in October. It was teased initially in September.
