Joker out April 20 on amazon prime video in India
The Joker – Joaquin Phoenix-starrer standalone DC movie – will be available on Amazon Prime Video in India on April 20, the streaming service has revealed. This is thanks to Amazon’s ongoing deal with Warner Bros. Pictures India, which gave us the supernatural horror sequel It’s Chapter Two and the sequel Godzilla: The King of the Monsters earlier this month. Joker arrives on streaming in India six months after its release. You will need Amazon Prime subscription – Rs. 129 per month, or Rs. 999 per year – to watch Joker, as for all films on stage.
With Joker coming to Prime Video early next week, it includes six other DC movies on the Amazon service in the teen comedy Shazam in 2019! – 2018 Jason Momoa-Starr Aquaman, 2017 Gal Gadot-Starrer Wonder Woman, 2016 Dumpster Fire Suicide Squad, 2016 Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill-Starr Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and 2013 Universe-opener Man of Steel. Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice are also available on Disney + Hotstar and Hooke. Only one DC film universe entry, Justice League, is on Netflix.
A recent DC release, Birds of Pre, quickly followed up on video-on-demand platforms such as Apple TV, Google Play and YouTube due to the coronavirus epidemic that last month held about a third of the world.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Joker was originally released in India on 2 October. It became a box office hit, grossing over a billion dollars during its theatrical run – the first for an R-rated film in the US; It was certified “A” in India – and ended up as the largest DC film ever made in India. Joker was also the most nominated film at the 2020 Oscars, though it managed to pick up only two awards: Phoenix for Best Actor and Hildur Guanadotir for Best Original Score. Also, the Joker has been criticized for dealing with mental illness and violence.
Joker is out of Prime Video in India on Monday, April 20. It will most likely only be available with English-language audio, as it was the only theatrical version of the film. That said, Amazon has built a vernacular dub from scratch in the past. Case in point: the Oscar-winning parasite.
If you want to watch Joker in 4K, then it is available on Apple TV for Rs. Rent from 150, and Rs. 690 for purchase at Rs.
