Indian railways to partially resume service May 12, how to book tickets online
Indian Railways has announced that it will run 15 pairs of passenger trains from May 12 (Tuesday) with AC coaches and limited stops. These trains are for 15 destinations across the country – New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) to Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad, and Jammu Tawi.
Indian Railways is resuming passenger train operations after two months when services were halted due to a coronavirus-induced nationwide lockdown. Currently, Indian railway only labor and special parcel trains are operating to transport migrant workers to their homes, which supply essential commodities across the country.
Online booking of tickets will start from 4 pm on May 11 and will be available only on the official website of the Indian Railway (IRCTC).
Step 1: Visit the official website of IRCTC – www.irctc.co.in/nget/train-search
Step 2: Click Login at the top part of the homepage. If you do not have an account on the portal, register yourself and then login.
Step 3: Enter your credentials – ID and password.
Step 4: Enter your boarding station and destination station
Step 5: Select the travel date and class.
Step 6: You will get a list of trains.
Step 7: Check seat availability.
Step 8: Click on Book Ticket (depending on the class of travel).
Step 9: Enter your name, age, birth preference, address, etc.
Step 10: Make a payment
Step 11: IRCTC will send a message to your registered mobile number.
Step 12: You can take a print out or show this message to TTE.
Note: Ticket booking counters at railway stations will remain closed. Only passengers with valid confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter railway stations.
Passengers will be required to wear protective cover such as face cover and undergo screening at the time of departure. Only odd passengers will be allowed to board the train.
