Aarogya Setu App Mandatory for Airlines Passengers, No Entry without ‘Green Status’
The Airports Authority of India has said that all passengers should be registered on the Arogya Setu App
The Arogya Setu App has been made mandatory for airline passengers as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). This comes after the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced the resumption of domestic flights from May 25. Aarogya setu The guideline is a part of the SOP, issued to airlines and airport operators before passenger airlines start operating again. Apart from the use of the app, the use of masks and gloves and thermal screening of passengers will also be mandatory.
The AAI document states, “All disabled passengers must be registered on their mobiles with an Aarogya setu app and will be verified by CISF / Airport staff.”
AAI notes that the app will not be mandatory for children under 14 who wish to fly. In addition, passengers on the Arogya Setu app will not be allowed to enter airports “not showing green”. Arogya Setu has already been made mandatory for train passengers in the country.
Passengers have been asked to arrive at the airport 2 hours before the scheduled departure of their flights. Only passengers who board their flight within the next 4 hours will be allowed to enter.
Thermal screening of all passengers will be done before their entry. Social distancing norms have to be followed at the screening zone, entry gates, airport terminals, etc. Norms will be reminded to the passengers through the display system and boards at the airport.
There is still no clarity as to whether passengers who do not have a smartphone or live phone will be allowed to fly. In particular, the Arogya Setu app is currently available only for Android and iOS smartphones as well as KOS-based Jio phone models.
