Aarogya setu app now mandatory for public-private sector employees 

All employees of the country must use the Arogya Setu App.

 

The government has announced the use of the Arogya Setu App for all public and private sector employees, announcing another extension of the ongoing lockdown to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic. This has made the app mandatory for people residing in the COVID-19 container zone to enable intensive monitoring and contact tracing in those areas. Authorities have been asked by the government to ensure the total coverage of the app among those residents. Arogya Setu app was introduced as a voluntary app by the government in early April and has seen an increase in mass usage, encouraged by establishments like PM Narendra Modi and CBSE for its use.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) stated in its directive, “The use of the Arogya Setu App, Aarogya setu app both privately and publicly, will be made mandatory for all employees. It will be the responsibility of the heads of the organizations concerned to ensure 100 percent coverage of this app among the employees. “

The government on Wednesday made the Aarogya setu app mandatory for all central government employees.

In the guideline, the MHA also mentioned that the Red Zone offices, except the zonal zone, would be allowed to open with a strength of 33 percent. The remaining employees will have to work from home. It added, “Private offices can operate as per the requirement with 33 percent power, with the remaining individuals working from home.” Aarogya setu app is also implied that in the Orange and Green zones, 100 percent strength is allowed. The government offices of the Red Zone will be “allowed to operate at full strength for senior officers at the level of deputy secretary,” with the remaining 33 percent participating as per the requirement.

The MHA guidelines also state that officials will ensure that the Arogya Setu app is used by everyone in the container zone. The guidelines read, “Local authorities will ensure 100 percent coverage of the Arogya Setu App among residents of the control area”

Arogya Setu – launched in early April, is a contact tracing app using Bluetooth and GPS data of users for this purpose. The government has decided to conduct intensive monitoring for contact tracing in the Containment Zone.
